I LOVE HIM
Frank’s side of the
story continues
I was very furious seeing Mike cleaning my shop that early in
the morning. It sure meant to me that he truly planned the attacks on me. I
rushed immediately to the nearest police station and laid a complaint against
Mike, accusing him of attempted murder and a successful kidnapping. The police
got very interested with the case since it had a connection to the Sunday
incident that made the headlines. I was asked to make my statement in writing
which a gladly did. Though I was partly happy because I was finally getting rid
of a threat to my life and wellbeing, but I was also partly sad because my best
friend happened to be the enemy. After a while, I left with six policemen. The
police took the case so serious that I was even afraid that Mike was in a
bigger trouble. Even though he happened to be the enemy, I still have that
friendship leap for him. We have been more like brothers. I helped him
when he had nothing and I was still helping him. I couldn’t believe that he
would allow a girl come between us. Before twenty minutes, we were already in
my shop. Mike looked surprised but to me, all of that was pretense. He was
acting as if he knew nothing of what happened to me. “Frank what is the meaning
of all this?” was what he kept on asking me. I ignored him and told the police
to take him away. Mike pleaded with me to explain to him what was
happening after the police must have told him that they have a warrant to
arrest him on the count of kidnapping and attempted murder. Mike shed tears
like a child but all that meant nothing to me. I stood and watched as they
dragged him away from the office to their van and zoomed off. People gathered
and were wondering what was wrong. They knew how close we were and I knew for
certain what the surprise was all about.
My shop was closed throughout the whole day courtesy of Cynthia. She was
disappointed with Mike like myself. She asked me to stay at home in order ease
off the pain. Of course, she was there to keep me company. Towards evening, my
phone rang and it was Mike’s mother calling me. She complained bitterly that I
shouldn’t have taken it to that extreme but all her tears fell on deaf ears. I
was determined to file a suit against Mike. Cynthia backed me up on that.
The following day, the news of Mike’s arrest made headline because it was
connected to the fatal accident that happened on Sunday, “The man behind the
scene: Sunday’s tragic accident”, “The real story behind Sunday’s accident”
were the headlines that Tuesday morning. I didn’t open my office the whole of
that week and Cynthia spent almost all her time at my place throughout that
week. On Saturday that same week, I received a note stating that I am in big
trouble for arresting their client. They note read thus: “You think arresting
our client will save you? You lie. We will hunt you until we gun you down.
Leave Cynthia alone and let her be. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. We had a deal
with our client and we must finish our own part of the deal. We lost a couple
of guys because of your stubbornness and you must pay dearly for their lives.
Be warned!”
I lost all sanity after reading the letter. I immediately called the DPO of the
station where Mike was detained and he promised to look into the case. The
following week, I went to the station to see Mike and inquired from him why he
had to be that cruel but he kept on declining the accusation and I was mad
about that. I told the DPO to deal with him and make him say the truth. The
court proceeding was slated to be on the 5th of the following month and I was
so nervous. The police asked me to always be in contact with. Cynthia on her
own part decided to sponsor me for the month and asked me to stay away from my
shop. She even insisted that I should stay in her parents’ house so that she
can be sure of my protection. Though I refused at first, but I later realized
that I had no choice. Her parent’s house was by far more secured than where I stayed.
Cynthia’s mum wasn’t easy to go by. She made sure that I didn’t go anywhere
near her daughter’s room. She hated me for no reason and I couldn’t explain
why.
